Maryland

Put your technical, communication, problem-solving, and proven people skills for management and business development to work. You will provide engineering-related analysis on a variety of diverse construction projects and structures, while investigating and resolving property, surety, and construction defect insurance claims. In this dynamic role, you will also be responsible for managing assignments and personnel while working with marketing and sales personnel in business development.  Read more

Forensic Investigations

  • Provide expert forensic analysis — provide analysis and consultation on various construction claims including surety, property, and construction defect failures
  • Perform and supervise field inspections of residential, commercial, and/or industrial projects for contract conformity code compliance and/or assessment of cause and origin damages
  • Schedule onsite inspections with property owners to conduct physical inspections and develop written reports of findings
  • Coordinate and provide information in a manner satisfactory to clients’ expectations
  • Provide written and verbal repair estimates on structures
  • Travel to perform assignments as needed
  • Provide expert testimony and/or depositions as needed for assigned projects
  • Provide excellent customer service to Guardian’s clients
  • Ability to manage direct reports and perform office management functions

REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicant must be a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) or a licensed Architect in Maryland or New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Virginia
  • Multiple P.E. licensure in surrounding states preferred but not required
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in related Engineering field: civil or structural or architecture
  • Previous forensic experience (5 years) is highly preferred
  • Previous management experience preferred
  • Previous expert testimony or deposition experience highly preferred
  • Adaptable attitude and willingness to learn new skills and techniques
  • Well-organized with the ability to meet project deadlines
  • Hands-on engineering experience (structural/mechanical/electrical investigations, etc.)
  • Able to climb roofs, crawl in tight spaces, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team oriented and enjoy service-oriented work
  • Honest and ethical business practices at all times

FORENSIC PROPERTY AND CASUALTY PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS

1099 INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR

RESPONSIBILITIES

This is an independent contractor (1099) role. Work includes new construction and existing building projects for activities such as forensic evaluation of building leaks or structural issues, building cladding or roofing systems and preforming air and water leak testing. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering
  • 3 years minimum relevant experience
  • Certifications relating to building inspection and investigation including but not limited to: training/certification, Roofing/Building Envelope (RCI), Infrared Thermograph
  • Active Professional Registration (PE) license within assigned area
  • Forensic experience (typically 3 years) is desired.

Providing engineering/technical, managerial and business development support to the Vice President of Construction Defect Services, you will put your winning combination of analytical and procedural skills together into a highly valued role for the organization’s continued growth and success. RESPONSIBILITIES

•Investigate an array of engineering and construction projects (civil/structural) to determine the cause & origin of failures, damages, incomplete work and/or defects — must be “hands-on” and willing to climb roofs, crawl in tight spaces, etc.

•Document existing site conditions using scaled sketches and/or diagrams, measurements, collection of written and photographic evidence, etc.

•Research a variety of technical issues using codes, standards, technical papers, text books, Internet, etc.

•Analyze available data, develop conclusions and prepare accurate, clear and concise investigative reports

•Develop technical project proposals, presentations and detailed budgets

•Provide expert testimony and/or depositions as needed

•Prepare exhibits and provide other litigation support as needed

•Participate in on-going training and development to assure knowledge and skills remain current and comprehensive

•Participate in business development activities and functions

•Become a respected facilitator on the team

•Provide effective management of all assigned tasks, meeting budget and delivery time frames and ensuring complete client confidence and satisfaction

QUALIFICATIONS

•Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited university

•Active P.E. license in California

•Multiple P.E. licenses in surrounding/other states highly preferred

•At least 5-10 years’ forensic engineering investigations experience

•Prior expert testimony or deposition experience preferred (but not required)

•Walking and climbing, as needed, to inspect multi-story residential, commercial and industrial sites

•Strong project management, data interpretation and technical writing skills
